Gregorian Chant is the preferred music for the Western or Latin Rite of the Catholic Church. With the introduction of vernacular languages after the Second Vatican Council, Gregorian Chant has fallen out of favor as unappealing to many western Catholics.
At the Abbey of the Holy Trinity an adaptation of Gregorian Chant to the English vernacular has been arranged under the guidance of Sister Cecile Gertken, OSB, a musician of St. Benedict's Priory, St. Joseph, Minnesota.
This is the plainsong presently used for the Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours.
